Funding Mix Worksheet for Creative Projects

A project is fragile when the entire plan depends on one grant, one sponsor, one customer, or one event. A funding mix gives you multiple ways to solve the same budget.

Start with the full project cost

Price the real work first. Then decide which portion of the total could realistically come from each source.

Possible funding sources

  • Grants

  • Individual donations

  • Monthly giving

  • Corporate sponsorship

  • Earned revenue

  • Ticket or registration revenue

  • Product sales

  • Service revenue

  • Partner contributions

  • In-kind support

  • Organizer investment

Add a target and probability

For every source, record the target amount, probability, decision date, owner, and next action. A $20,000 pending grant and $20,000 of cash in the bank are not the same thing.

Build scenarios

Create a minimum version, target version, and expanded version of the project. If a major funding source is delayed or declined, you should already know what changes instead of improvising under pressure.
